This was the second pub in the village, being shown on an 1856 map, while a photograph shows it was still going in 1983. Harold Heslop, when writing of life in the village in the early 20^th century, recorded that Jack Richardson rehearsed his brass band in the pub. It is now the Quarry Tearoom.
